Ok, following all the previously leaked information, HTC Germany just officially announced the Desire C. According to HTC, the Android 4.0 smartphone is powered by an ARM Cortex A5 CPU at 600 MHz and as expected, it features Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4 which shows-up on a 3.5" HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) capacitive touch display. The Desire C supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 900/2100 MHz, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi b/g/n, aGPS, an FM radio and - surprisingly - Google Wallet compatible NFC (but this is country and carrier depended). The f2.8/34 mm fixfocus camera has a resolution of 5 megapixel and allows to record VGA videos only.

As expected, the Desire C measures 107.2 x 60.6 x 11.95 mm and the NFC version weights 100 g, including the 1230 mAh Li-Ion battery. The device has 512 MB RAM and 4 GB flash memory which can be expanded with micro SD cards up to 32 GB. Like HTC's latest One-series devices, the Desire C will feature Dropbox's 2 year free 25 GB offer.

The HTC Desire C, which will be available in black, red, white, will launch in Europe early June and is said to cost 219 Euro/259 CHF. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the open market version won't feature NFC while for instance O2 Germany will carry the NFC version of the Desire C. In the UK, T-Mobile will have the Desire C for £15.50 per month (on a 24 month contract) or for £169.99 on Pay As You Go. Other UK carriers which will have the Desire C are Vodafone, Orange, Virgin Media, Three and O2 UK.

Cheers ~ Arne
