 HTC's
new Advantage X7510 is a Windows Mobile smartphone of its own category. While it
features Microsoft's recently released Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
smartphone OS it's design-wise quite unique, featuring a flat touch-sensitive
QWERTY keyboard with haptic feedback which can be attached to the main body
using a magnetic mechanism. The device features a huge 5" touchscreen and
features, in addition to its 128 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM 16 GB solid state disk
storage. With the X7510, HTC removed the 5-way navigation joystick as well as
the Start and OK keys from the main body but the device has now used with the
stylus or thumb (or with the attached keyboard).
On the front, the main body includes a VGA CMOS camera for video telephony
while the 3 megapixel autofocus camera on the back supports 3 megapixel and
includes a supporting photo light. The Home button on the front can be either
used to jump back to the Windows Mobile Today screen or, if pressed longer, to
launch a dedicated program. On the left side, the device features the volume
slider, a VGA out/USB 1.1 Host jack (which requires an adapter) the mini USB 2.0
sync jack and a 3.5 mm audio connector as well as the left stereo speaker. On
the right the device features the camera shutter, the on/off switch and the
right stereo speaker.
The detachable keyboard fits on the screen to protect the screen but includes
a cut-out which provides access to part of the screen which shows the network
name and status, battery status and time. Additionally HTC gives a specially
designed protection case with the HTC Advantage which keeps everything together
and which hasn't to be removed for use:
 
 
 
 
 
 
The whole device, without the keyboard, measures 133.5 mm x 98 mm x 16 mm and
the keyboard adds another 4 mm and weights 375 g including the battery.
