HTC's recently announced GSM/UMTS version of the HTC EVO 3D Android 2.3/Gingerbread smartphone delivers the same glasses-free 3D experience as the U.S. version. Stylishly rugged, the European HTC EVO 3D is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA (up to 14.4 Mbps)/HSUPA (up to 5.76 Mbps) at 900/1700/2100 MHz, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0+EDR. The HTC Evo 3D features two 5 megapixel autofocus cameras with an amazing f/2.2 aperture lens which allows to capture 2D photos with up to 5 megapixel and 3D photos with up to 2 megapixel resolution as well as recording 2D/3D HD videos up to 720p.

The 4.3" 540 x 960 qHD capacitive touchscreen allows to view photos and videos in 3D without the glasses. At a size of 126 x 65 x 12.05, the EVO 3D weights 170 grams and comes with 1 GB of RAM and 1 GB of RAM which can be even expanded with microSD memory cards.

In addition to the main camera on the back, the EVO 3D features an additional front facing 1.3 megapixel fix focus camera which can be used for self portrait photos and video telephony. Furthermore, and this is quite uncommon for a HTC Android smartphone, the EVO 3D features a dedicated hardware shutter, next to a physical key which allows to switch between 2D and 3D mode. Other than that, the EVO 3D comes with the Android typical touch sensitive navigation buttons under the screen.

In Europe, the HTC EVO 3D will be broadly available from anytime August and will retail for around 699 Euro.
