The HTC Touch Pro2, HTC announced back in February during the Mobile World Congress, is HTC's next horizontal slider smartphone which features a full QWERTY keyboard which makes it a perfect Windows Phone for everyone who needs to type texts on the go. Unlike the original HTC Touch Pro but like the HTC TyTN II, the semi-sliding touchscreen can also fold-up and size-wise the Touch Pro2 is also closer to the TyTN II than to the original Touch Pro which was a very small smartphone for a messaging device. Like other recent HTC Professional smartphones, the Touch Pro2 also lacks a D-Pad but it's optimized for touchscreen use only, even if it features a couple of keys.

The HTC Touch Pro2 is more a business machine than a consumer or prosumer device. Not only because the slide-out keyboard but also because it's featuring a new technology HTC calls "Straight Talk Technology". Like most HTC smartphones, the Touch Pro2 has the loudspeaker on the backside of the device. However, in addition it also features a microphone on the back and if the device is switched down during a call, it automatically transfers the call to the backside loudspeaker, turns the microphone on and the Touch Pro2 can now be used for a conference call.

Like the HTC Touch Diamond2, the Touch Pro2 is also running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and features a Qualcomm MSM7200A CPU at 528 MHz. However, unlike the Touch Diamond2, the Touch Pro2 only sports a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and the photo light, known from the original Touch Pro is also left. The 3.6" TFT-LCD touchscreen features WVGA at 480x800 pixels and at a size of 11.61 x 5.92 x 1.70 cm the device weights 175 g only, including the 1500 mAh LiIon battery.

The HTC Touch Pro2 is expected to be released anytime in June across Europe and Asia but HTC also confirmed a North American release later Q2-2009.
