Earlier this week, Huawei officially announced its latest Android smartphone, the Huawei Ascend P7, which follows the tradition of the Ascend P-series high-end smartphones. Powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 910T quad-core CPU at 1.8 GHz, the P7 runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Huawei's Emotion UI 2.3. It supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 850/900/1800/1900MHz MHz as well as quadband UMTS/HSPA+ at 850/900/1900/2100 MHZ as well as pentaband LTE CAT 4 at 800/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz; WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and NFC. It comes with a G-sensor, accelerometer, proximity and light sensor, ambient light sensor and a digital compass. It sports a Gorilla Glass 3 protected 5.0" INCELL Full HD touchscreen.
The auto focus F2.0 5-piece ISP main camera on the back has 13 megapixel with a dedicated BSI sensor, which is said to be originally developed for use in high-end digital cameras. The fix focus front facing camera has amazing 8 megapixel. Both, the front and rear camera come with Blue Glass infrared filters on the lenses to provide a sharper image, with better noise reduction and bright colors and details, even in low light conditions.
The Ascend P7 features 2 GB RAM and 16 GB flash memory which can be expanded with micro SD memory cards. The devices measures incredible 139.8 x 68.8 x 6.5 mm, which might makes the P7 one of the thinnest LTE smartphones in the market today. Together with the non-removable 2500 mAh Li-Poly battery, the Ascend P7 weights about 124 g only.
The P7 isn't sporting any hardware menu buttons but on-screen menu keys. On the right, it features the SIM card and micro SD memory card slot, right next to the power button and volume rocker. The volume rocker can also act as a dedicated camera shutter and can awake the camera for a snap-shot. The 3.5 cm stereo headset jack is back on the top while the micro USB port is located on the bottom.
The Ascend P7 comes with a sleek Gorilla Glass 3 protected glass back which is made with a 7-layer surface treatment using a unique micro-pattern design. A process that increases transparency and gives it a stunningly beautiful look and feel in the hand. The result is a tactile experience with a Spin effect texture finish.
The Huawei Ascend P7 will be available from June and is being released in black, white and pink. The estimated retail price without a contract is something around 419 - 449 Euro, even if sources told us that the device will already go on sale for 399 Euro in certain markets.
Cheers ~ Arne
