Like
the North American Palm Pre, the European GSM/UMTS Palm Pre features the same
black design and slide-out keyboard. The very shiny plastic - a real finger
print magnet - nevertheless feels rocking solid, like the whole device feels. On
the front, the Palm Pre only sports the 3.1" HVGA capacitive touchscreen as well
as a menu button. There's no call send/end key or anything else, except the
hidden vertical arc-sliding QWERTY keyboard. On the left, the device carrys the
volume up/down rocker while on the right - protected by a flat - the device
features a micro USB port which is used to charge the battery. On the top the
Palm Pre has a stereo headset port located.
Even if the Palm Pre is a UMTS device, there's no camera for video telephony
on the front. The fixfocus camera on the back, which is backed-up by a LED
flash, supports photos up to 3 megapixel. Video recoding isn't supported yet.
Next to the camera is the loudspeaker which is either used for media playback or
hands-free calls.
Next to the stereo jack on the top, the Pre features the Palm typical
mute-switch to shut of call notifications.
