Announced back September, the SamsungGalaxy Xcover/Xtreme S5690 is powered by a Marvell MG2 CPU at 800 MHz and runs Android 2.3.6/Gingerbread. It supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 900/2100 MHz, Bluetooth 3.0+EDR, WiFi b/g/n and aGPS. Furthermore it comes with an FM radio. It features a 3.65" HVGA TFT Gorilla Glass scratch resistant multi-touch touchscreen and the 3.0 megapixel autofocus camera on the back comes with a supporting flash LED which can also be used as a stand-alone torch. The ruggedized IP67 certified smartphone is dust and water proof (up to 1 meter for 30 minutes) and measures 121.5 x 65.9 x 12 mm at a weight of 100 g only.
All parts are either water proof, like the navigation keys under the screen as well as the power on/off key and volume rocker on the left and right of the device, or protected by flaps, like the micro USB port on the bottom and the 3.5 mm stereo headset jack on the top.
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover/Xtreme S5690 is now available in the color combination orange/black and retails across Europe for around 249 Euro.
