Yes, sorry - we had a problem with the videos yesterday but now it's up and running again, in case you want to watch it now.
1) I noticed the X arrangement of the buttons next to the optical joypad. Does this represent a total of 8 usable buttons that can be remapped?
No, it's just 5: Left/Right Softkey, Call/End and X Pannel/OK. Not sure if you can remap them.
2) Do you know if programs that operate from a QVGA screen will be able to work in full screen mode for this WVGA screen?
I'm sure these apps will run but I don't think they will look good, if an application was developed for a fixed size.
3) Do software programmers need to optimize their programs to utilize the video drivers (if and when Sony and HTC will get that working)? Or will programs (such as games) automatically benefit from the video drivers without any further input from programmers?
Hopefully all apps will benefit from the video acceleration but first we have to see it in place for the native X1 applications.
In general I think it's too early for these kind of questions since the device is still in a very early development stage. Sure, the Sony Ericsson developers could tell you more but unfortunately I don't have a contact to them. Nevertheless, maybe someone from SE is reading this thread and can jump in? |
