Mitac International is indeed preparing for a busy year. Expecting to ship 600,000 Pocket PCs this year, of which 30% will be own-brand models, Mitac will offer a complete PDA solution that covers the high-end, mid-range and low-end PDA markets.

Mitac has gained popularity for their launch of their Mio line of Pocket PCs last year, the Mio 528 and Mio 338. Adding also to their roster of products are the MobilePro 200e and MobilePro 300e Pocket PCs which they produce for NEC and the V35 which they produce for ViewSonic.

Mitac plans to launch a third handheld device under their own name in June, aimed at the corporate market. The device will feature an Intel XScale PXA 262 processor and likely retail between NT$16,000 and NT$20,000 (about US$460-575). In the second half of the year, it will launch one or two entry-level PDA models to be sold at around NT$7,000 (about US$200).

Mitac will also be shipping its Mio 8380 running the Microsoft Smartphone platform to an Asian carrier in May or June. Mitac did not mention the name of the carrier.
