Ok, Air France is the first airline which allows mobile phone use on some specially equipped aircrafts and while Air France allows the use of mobile phones now for SMS, MMS, E-Mail only, within the next months, the airline will also allow phone calls during flights.
I've seen some interesting comments about this topic from "no way, don't even think about allowing it" to "many U.S. carriers have on-seat phones for years and it's rarely used only anyway". So the question is what do you think?
I can tell you that I've used VoIP with Lufthansa's Connexion by Boeing once and well, my seat neighbor wasn't avid at all.

Planes are noisy enough - with the chatter of people, the engines etc.  The last thing needed are people bellowing "I can't hear you, I'm on a plane!"

It's not the concern about important phone calls, but let's be honest; I don't need the sheer amount of useless discussions in my ear that I already hear at airports where people who have nothing to say in the first place exchange millions of calls to let other people who never wanted to know it in the first place know that their flight is on time, that they have a middle seat and hopefully not in the future that the toilet in the plane is occupied, what they have to eat and maybe that the stewardess is pretty. Good lord, give me a break. I enjoy the time where airline restrictions prohibit these conversations. Who tells people in the first place that the height of their mobile phone bill is a relevant parameter of their quality of life? Ah, right, mobile service providers do. And when you sign the contract it's like "Lower you shields. You will assimilated and added to the collective. Resistance is futile."

Your safety is the reason, so I hate it when people during flights let their phones on.
If you have a nice airline mostly you can make a phone call in the airplane itself.
And please don't use any mobile phones, because it is not only for your own safety but also for other people their safety.
