The
bad news reached us yesterday night via
Twitter, HTC
America has currently no plans to launch its upcoming flagship Windows Mobile
Professional smartphone, the
HTC Touch HD,
in North America. The HTC spokesperson
said"sad news, US. we
looked into it- by the time we could bring Touch HD to the states, it would be
old news". Nevertheless, it was also mentioned that HTC has "other cool stuff
coming", while it's not yet clear if this means new, yet unknown, Windows Mobile smartphones or devices like the T-Mobile G1 Android smartphone which is
manufactured by HTC.
But as a matter of fact, the HTC Touch HD won't be an option for North
Americans. While it features quadband GSM, it only sports dualband UMTS and
HSDPA without support for the North American 850, 1700 and 1900 MHz UMTS
networks.
Ok.. i have T-MOBILE (American- GSM NETWORK), and i want to know if i will be able to buy it online from, lets say AMAZON GERMANY. WILL IT WORK WITH MY SIM CARD???? ( i have intention to use 3G, i just want to make calls, Wi-fi, Music, and FM-radio. )

If you don't want to use U.S. 3G, you can import it and it will work with your T-Mobile SIM (as well as it would work with a AT&T SIM). Since the HTC Touch HD supports quadband GSM, you won't face any problems!

Thanks alot. One more question though... the only place ive seen it on is at the AMAZON GERMANY website.. here's the link
Would this be UNLOCKED??? or are all versions of this item released outside of the U.S locked?

It is unlocked, sure and therefore it can be used with any SIM card around the world, that's not the problem. The bigger problem might be the fact that n HTC Touch smartphone from Amazon Germany features a German user interface, not an English one!
This device is the first one that really deserves the title of an iPhone killer. It feels as nice as Apple, but it's Windows Mobile. I could test it for a review in German:
We at Areamobile.de also made a video about the HTC Touch HD with English subtitles. To switch them on, please click the red button down right in the Youtube video player. You can find it here:
What an infamous self-promotion of a commercial website. And not a just self-promotion but also completely off-topic because the initial posting is about the canceled launch in the U.S. Thanks a lot areamobile to show me a device I'm unable to get here!

So ARNE-- ur saying that i wont be able to understand the phone?!?!?! there is no way for me to change the language on the phone?

I wouldn't day you are not understanding the phone - well - as long as you speak German. The basic problem of Windows Mobile Professional smartphones is that they come with one single UI language only and you cannot change it like you might used to do it with mobile phones. A Windows Mobile Professional smartphone comes with one single UI language and devices you might order from Amazon Germany are shipped with a German UI.
