O2 UK is building on the popularity of the highly acclaimed Xda II by adding to its Xda portfolio with the launch of two new devices the Xda IIs (Xda III) and Xda IIi. The handsets feature the latest cutting edge technology and contemporary design all at affordable prices, making a perfect Christmas present for business professionals.

The Xda IIs will be available in the UK and Germany before Christmas 2004 with the Xda IIi to follow in early 2005.

Xda IIs (also known as MDA III aka "HTC Blue Angel")
Xda IIs offers a new way of working, with a 39-key integrated QWERTY keyboard, making it really easy to write an email or fill out a form. This Christmas you can still keep on top of your workload while enjoying the festivities by accessing applications such as E-Mail, texting and editing using the familiar Microsoft Office tools. RIM Blackberry Connect will also be available in early 2005."

The Xda IIs boasts a 25% increase in battery life over the original Xda II, as well as WLAN capabilities for corporate connectivity, making it great for people on the move.

Xda IIi (completely unknown so far)
The Xda lli features the latest Windows 2003 2nd edition software, making it much faster than the Xda II, due to its advanced Intel PXA270 processor, which runs at 520MHz. Together with the additional WLAN capability you can browse the Internet, access your emails and download data such as music, ringtones, games, news services and other premium content much more quickly. The improved 1.3 Megapixel camera means you can take high quality pictures of friends and family.

Wow - O2, the first carrier who introduced a Pocket PC Phone Edition back in 2002, did it again! While it was clear for all of us that O2 will follow T-Mobile's earlier announcement to release a MDA (as Xda III) with built-in keyboard (but why the heck isn't it called Xda III as expected but Xda IIs?) so far there was nothing publicly known about a kind of "Xda IIi" which is - as I got confirmed - basically the same device as we know it from the Xda II but with seriously enhanced features: a faster CPU, built-in Wi-Fi and a 1.3 Megapixel cam - running Windows Mobile 2003SE.

Well done O2 - especially the Xda IIi which seems to be another state of the art Pocket PC Phone Edition from O2!

Cheers ~ Arne
