While
the Opera Software spokesman
told me on the Mobile World Congress back in February, that
Opera Mobile 9.5 for Windows Mobile should be publically available in
summer, it took a little bit longer. Nevertheless, the wait is almost over as
Opera
announced today on its Opera Mobile blog. According to the posting, a
release testing phase is underway now and the target date for the first Beta is
July 15th; from where you will be able to download
Opera Mobile
9.5 for Windows Mobile from opera.com - just like you would any other
versions of Opera. As Opera unveiled on the Mobile World Congress already, Opera
Mobile 9.5 is based on the same browser engine as Opera 9.5 for desktop, and
this is the reason why it has taken some time to get it ready.

However, the new version of the browser engine will ensure that you can surf
the Web with a browser supporting the latest and greatest in Web standards.
Some versions of Opera Mobile 9.5 are already shipping on the latest Windows
Mobile smartphones like the
HTC Touch
Diamond, HTC
X7510 and Samsung
SGH-i900 Omnia and without going into details yet, Opera said that we can
expect a few differences between the versions that are pre-installed on phones
and the public version of Opera Mobile 9.5.
It's yet not known if Opera is releasing the Windows Mobile Professional version
only or if a Windows Mobile Standard version is in the pipe as well.
