Following
HTC's earlier commitment to
provide Windows Mobile 6 upgrades for some of the latest Windows Mobile
smartphones, now also Dopod International announced its Windows Mobile 6 upgrade
roadmap. This includes support for existing users of
838Pro (HTC Hermes),
D810 (HTC Trinity),
P800W (HTC Artemis) and the recently launched
U1000 (HTC Athena) to migrate from the Windows Mobile 5 operating system to
an improved platform, Windows Mobile 6. This can be done for free and is
applicable to all current owners of these devices.
From July 2007, Dopod will offer current users of these devices a free download
of the upgrade code which will enable users of these devices, currently running
on Windows Mobile 5, to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.
"This upgrade from Windows Mobile 5 to Windows Mobile 6 will enable our
users of 838Pro, D810, P800W and U1000 to enjoy improved usability, and for
our business users to better manage their business information which is
based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. This will also allow our customers
to continue to stay connected through our innovative and powerful products,"
said Jack Tong, CEO of Dopod International Corp.
All upcoming devices will continue to reinforce Dopod International's
commitment to let users to truly Enjoy Mobility and will continue to cater to
the demands of consumers looking for powerful yet stylish devices to enhance
their mobile lifestyle.
Most interesting is the fact, that - contrary to HTC (and
T-Mobile) - Dopod is not
planning a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for the C720W (HTC Excalibur) but - and here
comes the news - the D810 (aka HTC Trinity aka HTC P3600) is announced to get an
upgrade which HTC left! So
it looks like there might be a minimal chance for other HTC Trinity users to get
the awaited upgrade as well!
Cheers ~ Arne
