The Register got exclusively confirmed by HTC, that the Taiwanese ODM will ship devices that support the High Speed Data Packet Access (HSDPA) 3.5G data-speed booster in second half 2006.
Speaking to The Register at the formal opening of the company's European operation in the UK, HTC President Peter Chou confirmed speculation that HSDPA support is indeed on the manufacturer's device roadmap.
When pushed for a timeframe, Chou told The Register: "The second half of next year."
He also revealed that integrated GPS location-sensing technology is on the company's roadmap which isn't anything new since HTC is going to release the first GPS enabled Pocket PC (but without Phone Edition) during this winter aka HTC Galaxy.
According to The Register, HTC is believed to be working on at least two HSDPA-equipped devices.
