RUMOR: Is this how a Windows CE.Net could looks like?

Have you ever heard of Microsoft's Windows CE based project codenamed "Gemini" - not yet? Me too but has heard about it.

I don't know what it is, if it is a Pocket PC follower or a general Windows CE.Net GUI but it's always nice to see screenshots of something which isn't released and might be never released, in that case a CE.Net GUI... ;-)

According to, "Gemini" will have near the same xml based GUI like Microsoft "Longhorn", the expected follower of Windows XP.

As you can see, this follows the same task-orientated pattern as Longhorn and the prototype UIs shown in the 'Blackcomb' and 'Longhorn' videos. This clearly shows that while SideShow may be an integral part of Longhorn, it most certainly isn't the be-all, and end-all of Longhorn's UI.

These screenshots have been confirmed by reliable MS sources. There is no build number in bottom right however, which proclaims the message "Copyright 2002 Neptune Technologies." According to our sources, Microsoft contracted the intial development work to an outside company. This is, however, a Microsoft project, and could culminate in a portable release of Windows Longhorn

By the way, I don't think that this is "Pocket PC.Net" as the screen resolution is landscape, not portrait but it might give us a good view, how a new Windows CE.Net based Pocket PC could looks like - anytime.

Cheers ~ Arne
