According
to
Taiwanese ZDNet, Microsoft is "almost ready" or even more precisely - ready
sometime in 1st quarter 2010 - to release Windows Mobile 7 to its OEMs for the
so called "Maldives" stress-test; with an expected commercial launch in 3rd
quarter 2010.
This again confirms what previously was rumored already that Windows Mobile
cannot/won't hit the market before Q3-2010 which would give the recently Windows
Mobile 6.5 another 12 months of existence. As always, ODMs will need some time
to adopt the Windows Mobile golden code to their platforms including adopting
drivers and so on.

And if we keep in mind that Windows Mobile 7 is expected to be something new
and something totally different, it makes sense that ODMs will need at least 6
months to make Microsoft's next mobile OS ready to market.
