Following Germanwings earlier release of its Android and iOS apps, also Lufthansa has just released a new app but this time for Microsoft's Windows Phone, which wasn't supported so far. The new Lufthansa app for Windows Phone seems to be quite feature identical with the Android app and like the Android version, it's also mostly a wrapper for Lufthansa's mobile website. Nevertheless, it's everything in one app and user interface and allows booking, shows the timetable and flight status as well as it allows to check-in straight from the app. Furthermore it provides quick access to personal travel details and the Miles & More account.
Beside all the feature above, the Lufthansa app for Windows Phone also supports push messages which shows the latest information on the status of flights. Furthermore the app comes with support of Windows Phone live tiles by simply pinning the required flight to the Start screen which then provides a detailed overview of the respective flights.
Lufthansa said it's gradually extending the range of features offered by the application, which is why the German airline would still like to receive the customer's feedback. It therefore added a feedback function in the app where passengers can send comments.
As expected, the app is now available free of charge from the Windows Phone Store and unlike the recently launched Germanwings apps, it supports German and English. As said in Lufthansa's press release, the app was developed in cooperation between Lufthansa, Microsoft and Nokia, and implemented by SapientNitro.
However, there's one downside since the app - even if not really fancy - works on Windows Phone 8 only.
