is already serious enough and sometimes we oversee that from time to time we
should settle back and reflect all the developments. At the end of the day,
technology was invented to help us, not to make life even more complicated (even
if it is sometimes the other way around). To give all of us the weekly 30
seconds off, I'm happy to announce that the::unwired teamed-up with Wolfgang
Irber who will now contribute a
weekly comic strip.
Wolfgang, a promising artist, is a long-time reader of the::unwired and
couple of thoughts in the past years. He studied geology and worked 8 years
as a scientist before he moved into the telecommunication industry and worked
several years as an instructor and manager at a network supplier.
So Wolfgang knows telecommunication, he's a fan of mobile devices and he's an
artist - what a perfect combination. All his life he liked to draw. And all his
life people liked his drawings. But so far, he never published his artwork
professionally. Wolfgang studied geology and worked 8 years as a scientist.
While publishing his scientist work, he got lots of opportunity to draw, but
mostly with scientific background. His first "geological" comic was published by
a friend in a scientific journal about "Gold in Bavaria" back in 1997.
When he moved into the telecommunication business back in 2000, he almost
completely stopped drawing; but about 3 years ago he started again and
discovered that his drawings are not just liked, they bring joy to others.
And this exactly is Wolfgang's motivation behind every drawing: "To make
the people a little smile. Only then, a drawing of mine is a good drawing!
I know Arne for quite some time, of course from telecommunication. I always
liked his website, and always wanted to produce some comics about the
wireless/technical side in our lives.
The idea is a few years old, and today, we decided to start: I hope you will
enjoy as me!"
With a smile, Wolfgang"
So here we go, please welcome Wolfgang and hopefully you will like his work
as much as I do. Hopefully his work will make you a little smile as well!
Cheers ~ Arne
