SMARTPHONE: O2 Asia to release the HTC Tornado as O2 Orion

O2 makes it hard to follow them! While they will release the HTC Wizard in Asia as Xda Mini Pro, they will release the same device in Germany as Xda mini S. While they have released the Xda Exec in UK, they will not release it in Germany (and I haven't heard anything about Asia so far). On the other hand, O2 Asia will release the Xda Atom soon, which we haven't received any information yet about a possible launch in Europe.
Last but not least, O2 Germany will release the HTC Tornado as Xda phone in Germany soon, while CNet Asia revealed today that O2 Asia will release the HTC Tornado in Asia as O2 Orion but wait, not with a different name only but with a different ID also!
While O2 Germany will use the ID for their Tornado, Orange already introduced with the Orange SPV C550 (you remember, the one with the music keys), O2 Asia will use the ID also used by i-mate for the SP5 (you remember, more the classical ID).

Also, unlike O2 Germany's Xda phone, the O2 Asia Orion will comes with onboard Wi-Fi! Okay, I must admit, that I prefer the O2 Asia ID way more than the O2 Germany ID. Don't know why, but for some reasons, the German ID (as well as C550) is a kind of boring, not to say ugly.

Anyway, O2 Singapore has confirmed CNet Asia, that the O2 Orion will be available from end November with an estimated retail price of around US$ 490.63.

Cheers ~ Arne
