O2 Asia, an Asian market focused service provider of mmO2 (shareholder of European GSM and UMTS carriers o2 Germany, O2 UK and O2 Ireland) recently introduced their latest products for the Asian market: the O2 Xda IIs Pocket PC Phone Edition (also available later this year in UK and Ireland and known as Xda III at o2 Germany) and the O2 Xphone II Windows Mobile Smartphone:

"We are confident that O2 Xda IIs and O2 Xphone II will receive tremendous response from the public,"  Ng Kien Lock country (manager Malaysia) said after the launch of the products in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Ng said O2 Asia Pacific sold over 100,000 units of previous models Xda II and Xphone last year.

"Malaysian sales contributed significantly to O2 sales in Asia-Pacific. It was among the top three countries in terms of units sold," he said.

However, he declined to disclose the sales figures. O2 Asia vice-president (sales) Chia Eng Keat said O2 would unveil eight more models of handphone and handheld computers or personal digital assistants (PDA) next year.

Please note that according to my information, the Xphone II (like the Xphone before) isn't planned to be launched in the European market (yet).

Cheers ~ Arne
