Following the earlier discussions how good or bad Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 is doing, Engadget has received an update from Microsoft giving us some further info. According to these information, Microsoft has sold more than 2 million Windows Phone 7 licenses to OEMs/handset manufactures which means that possibly 2 million devices were manufactured so far. But it definitely doesn't mean that 2 million devices were sold to end users. Furthermore Engadget reports, that - according to Microsoft - early researches says that 93 % of Windows Phone 7 customers are "satisfied" and 90 % would even recommend the platform to others. That's definitely not a bad sign, especially the high recommendation rate shows that Microsoft seems to have something right.

Last but not least, Microsoft told Engadget, that an average of 100 new apps are hitting the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace per day, and that the Marketplace offers over 6.500 apps right now. This might make it the fastest growing apps-store in history, I'm not exactly sure since I don't have a iOS or Android figures available.

All together, it seems Microsoft is indeed quite satisfied with the overall Windows Phone 7 development, keeping in mind that Windows Phone 7 is available for 3 months only. Microsoft's earnings call is today so we might expect to get more details later today. But Microsoft told Engadget that it it sees plenty of reasons to be "bullish about the foundation for long-term success".

Cheers ~ Arne
