Several networks across Europe has already released their "MMS Picture to Postcard" services during the past months and I wonder if this is becoming a real hype (at least during holiday seasons) or not.
For all of you who haven't heard about it, it's a pretty simple but fancy and convergent service as it combines the cell phone world with the traditional snail mail world:
- First you snap a photo with your camera enabled cell phone:
- Now you add the recipient (postal address, not E-Mail or MMS number) and some text and send it to a dedicated number:
- Some day later, the recipient will get your photo printed to a postcard on one side and your text on the other side:
The idea isn't a bad one, just snap your photos while you are on vacation and send it (via GPRS/GPRS Roaming) home to the beloved; doesn't matter if he/she has an E-Mail account or MMS enabled cell phone.
So what do you think, would you use such a service (always depending on the costs - I know but from the general idea) to send message on the traditional postal way?
Overall I like this idea and will use it next time I'm in holidays! :-)
