UNVEILED: German retailer Cyberport confirms TI-powered Samsung Galaxy S II v2 [UPDATE]

We have heard about the Samsung Galaxy S II refresh before which was called Galaxy S II Plus and it seems it becomes true. German retailer Cyberport has just unveiled that it's stocking the so called "Samsung Galaxy S2 v2" from early March! While the specs in general haven't changed at all, the Galaxy S II v2 is also said to support quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as quadband UMTS/HSDPA+/HSUPA, the v2 is now said to run on a TI OMAP 4430 dual-core 1.2 GHz CPU instead of the original Samsung Exynos dual-core 1.2 GHz. This could be indeed a prove that the Galaxy S II refresh will feature Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box because TI delivered the silicon reference design for Android 4.0.

Nevertheless, Cyberport itself lists the v2 with Android 2.3.4 only and no word yet about Ice Cream Sandwich. However, keeping in mind that Samsung has confirmed an upcoming ICS upgrade for the original Galaxy S II, it's not too unlikely that a v2 might be shipped right away with Android 4.0.
Interesting enough, the Galaxy S II v2 is only 10 Euros more expansive than the original Galaxy S II and it can be preordered now from Cyberport.

UPDATE [16.02.2012]: Cyberport has now changed the expected availability to "undefined" and now to mid of March.
UPDATE 2 [16.02.2012]: Paul O'Brien just pinged me and let me know that apparently that is the GT-I9100G which has been out in Asia a while (roughly 4 - 5 month?). However, the I9100G got its GCF approval back in May last year and I'm not sure Cyberport would announce it as "new" in this case. Well, only time will tell and I'm sure we will learn more at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Cheers ~ Arne

The GT-9100G, currently sold instead of the GT-9100 in some markets already has a TI OMAP SoC.

Perhaps this is the GT-9100G? It has the OMAP4430 to be precise.
