MoDaCo and CrackBerry.com received a couple of photos of a new, so far unannounced and widely unknown HTC Windows Mobile smartphones which the tipster calls the "HTC Touch HD".
According to the yet rare information, little is known, this Windows Mobile Professional smartphone will feature Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional (meaning it's a touchscreen device),  a Qualcomm 7201A CPU at 528 MHz, 512 MB ROM and 256 MB RAM plus additional 32 MB on the  processor and a 800 x 480 pixel (WVGA) screen resolution. Furthermore it's confirmed, by the photos, that the HTC Touch HD will support - at least - UMTS (HSDPA and most likely HSUPA support are expected) as well as Bluetooth 2.0+EDR:

Quite noticeable is the fact that the HTC Touch HD seems to miss either a d-pad or optical joystick which means it will be either used through the touchscreen only or the area bellow the screen might be touch sensitive, as it is at today's HTC Touch devices already.

No further information available yet but check out the other photos at MoDaCo and CrackBerry.com.

UPDATE: MoDaCo received further information about the HTC Touch HD's expected feature. According to this, the HTC Touch HD features HSDPA (supported band yet unknown), GPS and a 5 megapixel camera (without flash). The above mentioned inbuilt memory can be expanded with microSD cards and the battery is said to hold 1350 mAh. On top, the device should have a 3.5 mm headset jack and the smartphone is expected to measure 115 x 62.8 x 12 mm. Furthermore, the missing d-pad seems to be confirmed but the Touch HD is said to come with a stylus.
According to MoDaCo's information, the HTC Touch HD should be available before Christmas.

Cheers ~ Arne

Oh I hate htc for releasing new devices in that incredible speed. Still waiting for my diamond pro, and well... there will be a new cool device. With a bigger screen. htc, stop frustrating me, as I have to wait for the next two years... sad

Had it in my hands yesterday. The screen is incredible. Slightly bigger than my iPhone's.
Touch sensitivity and responsiveness is still not on par with iPhone. Guess we'll have to wait for a device with that nVidia graphics chip...

@ptc: I know how you feel. It's quite impressive how fast HTC nowadays develop and release devices, if you compare it with the release cycles some years ago but nevertheless, HTC isn't another ODM anymore but wants to play in the champions league.

@Onno: What, please let us know more. Do you have any photos you can send over? ;-)

@Onno, You mentioned your hands on that the touch sensitivity and responsiveness is not on par with the iPhone. Would it be correct to summarize that the HTC Touch HD uses a "resistive" screen as oppose to the iphone's "capacitive" screen?

Thanks for the heads up!

I think HTC want this device to go toe to toe with the iphone.
They even remove the dpad on the device... everything will be via touch.
I love the screen so much, WVGA is so sweet for me who do a lot of RDP to our servers.
