While
MSN Direct was quite an
interesting idea, it never ramped-up seriously. Sure, now
you even get MSN Direct enabled
coffee maker and weather stations but the service never reached the critical
mass to make it attractive for consumers or content providers. However, the
overall service concept is there and why not bringing it to another Microsoft
mobile product, namely Windows Mobile. On the upcoming Mobile World Congress
2008, Microsoft is expected to announced MSN Direct for Windows Mobile which is
expected to be a new downloadable application so consumers can receive instant
access to personalized information such as weather, stocks, top news stories,
entertainment news, sports news, business news and more.

While it's likely that MSN Direct for Windows Mobile isn't requiring any FM
receivers but used Windows Mobile's wireless Internet connection instead, it's not yet known how or if MSN Direct for Windows Mobile is charged and if it will be available in North America (where the original MSN Direct service was launched) only or if it will be available around the world.
Stay tuned for more information as they come.
Cheers ~ Arne
