 Google
just released another update for its
Google Maps
Mobile with
Google Latitude, the company released earlier this year. While the new
version doesn't bring any feature updates, it contains several bug-fixes, mainly
for Google Latitude.
For instance is Google Latitude background location updating fixed and allows
you to continue updating your location automatically in the background even when
Maps for mobile is closed. When in background location update mode, Latitude
will default to cell ID (cell tower) location detection to preserve battery
life. WiFi or GPS detection will not be available in background mode.
However, you might want to keep in mind that, if you run Google Latitude in
the background, it constantly updates your location which means you better have
a data plan in place. Furthermore, this might drain the battery way more than
switching Latitude off, which Google Maps Mobile asks you if you exit the
application.
Google Maps Mobile for Windows Mobile is now available in v3.0.1 for Windows
Mobile touchscreen and non-touchscreen smartphones. To ensure proper device
detection, use your phone's original browser, such as Internet Explorer Mobile.
