A
couple of minutes ago, good news reached me from o2 UK! They are ready to
release the long awaited o2 Xda II update as version 1.60.50 which fixes some of
the major HTC Himalaya platform problems.
The upgrade can take up to 90
minutes to complete (depending on the speed of your computer and if you are
using USB or serial connection).
Most Important Updates:
- Bluetooth Serial Port and Headset profile are improved
- Windows Mobile 2003 Service Pack 1
- New Active UI
- Java Midlet Manager
- Fewer processes at startup!
- Improved Caller ID software
Who is it for?
Should I apply it?
This really does depend on your own experience of Xda II. If it's
working and you are happy with the device, then you don't need to apply
the update. The Update offers new features and general improvements and
it's recommended to everybody to upgrade the device.
The ROM will be available for all to download from tomorrow afternoon, from the
UK's Xda website, and is 2 files:
- The Upgrade Release Notes & Instructions
- The ROM itself (around 26MB in size)
Note for O2 Germany customers: o2 Germany already released this
update for their German Xda II and therefore please don't download
the UK version but the German version only.
Note for PPCW.Net i-Mate Phone Edition customers: It's the same ROM
version I've already announced earlier this year and therefore you
don't need to change your ROM.
Cheers ~ Arne
