UPDATE: Sling Media releases new version of SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Mobile

Earlier this week, Sling Media released two new versions of its SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Mobiles: One for Windows Mobile Professional smartphones and one for Windows Mobile Standard smartphones, which are both available available for download now.
The primary feature addition in the new release is official support for new screen resolutions incl. 800x480, 640x480, 400x240 and 320x320 which means the new version of SlingPlayer Mobile, which works with every Slingbox, provides now support for 15 new Windows Mobile handsets including the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, the Palm Treo Pro, the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro, as well as the Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia among others.

The following is a list of newly supported Windows Mobile handsets now supported in this SlingPlayer Mobile release:

  • Palm Treo Pro
  • HP iPAQ 910
  • (Sprint) HTC Touch Diamond
  • (Sprint) HTC Touch Pro
  • (Sprint) Palm Treo 800w
  • (Sprint) Samsung ACE
  • (Verizon) HTC Touch Pro
  • (Verizon) Samsung Saga
  • (Verizon) Samsung Omnia
  • (Verizon) XV6900
  • (AT&T) LG Incite
  • (AT&T) HTC Fuze
  • (AT&T) Samsung Epix
  • (AT&T) Pantech Duo

SlingPlayer Mobile gives consumers their entire home TV experience, including local channels, local sports teams, video on demand, pay per view, etc. Any program that you can watch on your sofa back home, you can watch on your Windows Mobile-based smartphone anywhere you can get a standard network connection (3G Cellular or WiFi).

In addition, SlingPlayer Mobile users can also control their home digital video recorder (DVR) to watch recorded shows, pause, rewind and fast forward live TV, or even queue new recordings while on the road.

While the PC and Mac client of the SlingPlyer is available free of charge, the new Windows Mobile Professional version ( and the new Windows Mobile Standard version ( is available for U.S., Canadian and U.K, customers at US$ 29.99. All versions of SlingPlayer Mobile include a 30 day free trial.
