Back in May, HTCpublished a list of 17 smartphones which are expected to receive Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades from Android 2.3.x and today, HTC is keeping another promise by now offering Android 4.0 for its HTC EVO 3D! By far not HTC's most successful Android phone (who was really asking for the 3D camera and screen), HTC said it's planning to offer the upgrade within June and July and here we go, it's now available. According to what we've heard, it's an EMEA-wide rollout and also includes Vodafone. Since it's a fully firmware upgrade, the Android 4.0.3 upgrade is around 300 MB large but also includes Sense 3.6, HTC's lighter Sense 4 version for upgraded devices which are not part of the One-series.
The HTC EVO 3D should have already found the available upgrade, if not it might be worth to check manually if it's already offered for you, since I would expect that it's a staged upgrade, as always. Also it's recommended, as always, to do a backup first, even if the upgrade hasn't wiped any user data, like photos, on my test device.
I just manually checked for the update and am being told there is nothing available. I assume I just need to be patient and keep checking in....just overly zealous to get the update. Is anyone else encountering the same issue, or have you been able to update?

Yea it isn't working for me either. I just check and it said that there were no updates available for my phone. So I don't get it. Is out for the EVO or what?

Yeah, I reset my phone, updated my prl, profile, etc.....and still nothing. There is no notice of the update on the HTC website either. At this point it just appears that Sprint is holding out on the update, while the rest of the world receives it. Check this out.... http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2012/06/2 … r-regions/ Why would Sprint block this update? And for how long??? This kind of garbage just grinds me. Hey Sprint, I would buy the EVO LTE for the product specs (processor, camera, battery, etc.) not just for the ICS, so please release it for your loyal customers already.

As mentioned in the article, it's a staged EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa) roll-out including Vodafone only! This means that not all devices will receive it at the same day, to make sure HTC's server are not going down, but will receive it with delays of days. So nothing is lost! ;-) However, if you are on Sprint, it's a totally different story since their upgrade is yet not approved - by Sprint. :-(

Thank you Arne for the reply. Yes, you did mention it in your original post....however, in typical guy fashion, I blew past the 'details' in excitement for what I wanted....the ice cream. My bad and great post on breaking this news to the world! I will keep checking in for the Sprint update. All the best!

Yeah, really sorry for you U.S. guys! I'm seeing a lot of hits from the U.S. and all I can tell you is that it's an EMEA upgrade only! :-( Hopefully HTC can put "some light pressure" on Sprint, now after the upgrade went online for other parts of the world. On the other hand, the initial HTC schedule said June/July which is one month left to keep the date!
