UPGRADE: HTC releases Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich for the HTC Incredible S

And the next one! Following its roll-out of the Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the EVO 3D last week, HTC started today to roll-out ICS for its HTC Incredible S and is therefore continuing to complete its list of 17 smartphones which will receive Android 4.0, HTC published back in May. But with the Incredible S upgrade, HTC goes even further and released the first Android 4.0.4 upgrade for an existing device. According to the original plan, HTC expected a release for June to July and therefore hit the nail with today's release. According to what we've heard, this is a global roll-out for the GSM version of the Incredible S which features, as said, Android 4.0.4 and HTC Sense 3.6.

The upgrade is around 250 MB large and distributed OTA (over the air) and therefore, the Incredible S should have already found the availability. If not it might be worth to check manually if it's already offered for you, since I would expect that it's a staged upgrade, as always. Also it's recommended, as always, to do a backup first.

Cheers ~ Arne
