Further good news arrived from HTC and it seems that this is indeed the week of Ice Cream Sandwich-love. First Google announced that it's rolling-out Android 4.0 to a couple of Gingerbread and Honeycomb devices, then HTC announced to have its first series of dedicated Android 4.0 devices on sale early next week, today HTC has also started to roll-out its promised Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for the HTC Sensation and Sensation XE - to customers across Europe. Unfortunately, HTC is "only" rolling-out Android 4.0.3, not 4.0.4, and the new HTC Sense version isn't 4.0 but 3.6 "only". Nevertheless, like Sense 4.0, Sense 3.6 also comes with plenty of improvements, it's much "lighter" as well as it is cleaner and therefore faster.

HTC confirmed that this is a European roll-out but it depends on the carriers which Sensation and Sensation XE will receive it. Nevertheless, the open market Sensations, except the Sensation XL which will receive the upgrade later, should receive it today or anytime soon.

UPDATE 30.03.12: In a recent blog posting, HTC has confirmed that it has started the Android 4.0 roll-out for its Sensation and Sensation XE: "Most European carriers will start rolling-out ICS for these devices this week. For carriers outside of Europe, we will be pushing updates over the next few weeks and will have specifics soon."

Cheers ~ Arne
