UTILITY: Google releases Google Search for Windows Phone 7

With today's American launch of Windows Phone 7 in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, Google shows some app-love to new Windows Phone 7 users and launched Google Search for Windows Phone 7. While Windows Phone 7 comes with Microsoft's Bing search preinstalled, the Google Search app provides an alternative for quick and convenient access to a rich set of search results, allowing users to search the Web, images, local, news and more. This initial release of the Google Search app includes several features including suggestions which appear automatically as the search term is typed, as well as search history, and location based search for more relevant results.

Since Google itself calls it an "initial release", we might can expect even more Windows Phone 7-support from Google. Who knows, maybe also Google Maps, Google Latitude and other Google Mobile features might hit Windows Phone 7 smartphones sooner or later as well? At least, Google has a long tradition offering Google Mobile services for Windows Mobile.

The Google Search app is a free download for all Windows Phone 7 devices and languages and now available from the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace.

Cheers ~ Arne
