UTILITY: John Cody's SkweezeIt! makes Web surfing more efficient

I cannot tell you what a big fan I'm of such little helpers like John Cody's SkweezeIt! I'm. John created this app because he was tired of reading the brief summaries often found in RSS feeds. To read the full details of a story, you often have to click the "Read More Online..." link at the bottom of the RSS summary, but these links often point to a full-size webpage which can be very painful to load into Pocket Internet Explorer.
That's indeed a problem I've also facing many times; especially if sites either don't offer mobile versions or if they do, they don't use device recognition to redirect the reader to the optimized version (which the::unwired does for sure).

Anyway, back to the utility. Because of the fact above, John created SkweezIt! intercepts most attempts to launch Pocket Internet Explorer from another app (like from an Inbox or an RSS reader) and instead will prompt you with a "Skweeze it?" dialogue. If you say no, then Internet Explorer Mobile will launch normally to the passed URL. But, if you say "Yes", then it will automatically filter the passed URL through so the webpage will load quicker and better formatted for your device's smaller screen.

SkweezeIt! works on both, Windows Mobile Smartphones and Windows Mobile Pocket PCs (this is written in VB.NETcf 1.0, so it won't run on 2002 Smartphones or 2002 Pocket PCs). However, before you can use it, you also have to make some changes in your Registry (so you better know what you are doing, otherwise you might be forced to hardreset your device to make it alive again) which are explained step-by-step at Smartphone Thoughts.

Nice little utility - check out the original posting at Smartphone Thoughts.

Cheers ~ Arne
