Thanks to Vodafone Germany I've just received a brand new recently released LG KS20 which Vodafone has on a short-time exclusivity.
This Windows Mobile 6 Professional LG Prada look-alike smartphone features triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, singleband UMTS/HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbps, Bluetooth 2.0 as well as WiFi b/g and a FM radio.
Other highlights are the 2 megapixel main camera with photo light, a front facing VGA camera for UMTS video telephony, 128 MB RAM/256 MB ROM which can be expanded using microSD memory cards:

Coming next - a detailed video view of the device hardware.

Cheers ~ Arne

Nice to see you getting a review unit of this handset, Arne! Really looking forward to your judgement.

Some things I would like to know, which would be nice if you could comment on in the review:

1) General usability. How does the on-screen keyboard work (If there is a finger-friendly keyboard, or maybe you can install a third party keyboard or keypad like the ones from HTC Touch (Dual)?). Can you navigate to the different parts of the phone without using the stylus?

2) How does the joystick and call and hang-up key works? The touch sensitive call and hang-up keys won't get annoying (e.g. exiting applications by hitting the hang-up key all the time)?

3) Of course the feel and general build quality of the device. Does it feel sturdy? I have read a few minor complaints about the joystick.

4) Battery life - of course smile

5) Don't know if you can do this, but check out compatibility with microSDHC cards (SD 2.0, >2 GB). I don't think the device supports it from the start (?), but there's a cab from XDA-Developers which should enable compatibility with microSDHC cards - as said, I don't know if you are allowed to try that smile

Looking forward to your review smile

Has anyone heard any update on when this phone will get released in the UK?

Posted by Arne Hess on 23.11.07 - 17:13:49

@MTM: Wow, that's a long list with questions but I will try to cover them all in my upcoming views.

@charltonjames: There is nothing announced by Vodafone UK yet and it looks like they have no plans to release it. In any case, I'm sure LG will eeleae it and a launch should be close.

@Arne: I know, but I'm really interested in this device and I know you're able to answer them with your great reviews ;-)

(Side note: It's pretty much down to this or Touch Dual for me, but I think this looks better and WiFi would be great, so if usability is okay, this will be my choice).

I'm anxiously waiting for the SIM free version to arrive. I've read that Orange France should be releasing it in December, so I guess and very much hope Vodafone's exclusivity will run out there.

If you can share any knowledge on when this handset will be available SIM free, it would also mean a lot.
