Today, during Microsoft's press preview at the CommunicAsia, Microsoft revealed, that O2 Asia is going to launch a complete new Xda in Far East to be called O2 Xda Atom Exec, the follower of the already 6 months old O2 Xda Atom. According to O2 Asia, the Xda Atom Exec is expected to be available in July at an estimated retail price of around US$845 and is initially planned to be released in Far East, South East Asia and Middle East only. According to the::unwired sources, O2 has no plans to launch the device in Europe soon as well.
The Xda Atom Exec will run on the Windows Mobile 5.0 including AKU 2 which supports Microsoft's Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP).
One of the other key improvements - hardware-wise is the upgraded 520 MHz Intel processor and 192 MB of ROM. The original Atom PDA-phone came with a 416 MHz Intel processor and 128 MB of ROM "only" which is state of the art anyway.
The Atom Exec is expected to sport similar dimensions (102 x 58 x 18.5mm; 140g) as the Atom, which should be a handy size for most mobile users. However, in place of the glossy casing will be a matte exterior.
Other features expected on the Atom Exec include a 2-megapixel camera (again with photo light), FM radio, wireless LAN and Bluetooth for sure.
