Do
you remember the UBiQUiO 501
from TechFaith Wireless (TFW)
which earned some respect when it was previewed first time? Looks like also i-mate
felt in love with this device and it looks like the Dubai based Windows Mobile
devices reseller is going to launch it, with a little bit updated ID, under its
own i-mate brand as "i-mate JAQ3". At least that's what Pocket PC Hong Kong
wrote and proves with some interesting and very detailed photos.
All the rest looks quite similar to the original TechFaith Wireless reference
design: Equipped with a QWERTY thumb-keyboard and based on Windows Mobile 5.0
for Pocket PC Phone Edition, the JAQ3 supports GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 without
support for GSM 850 and EDGE, Bluetooth 1.2 with A2DP and WiFi 802.11b/g. In
addition, the JAQ3 includes a 2 megapixel camera and 64 MB internal storage
which is extendable through miniSD cards.
According to Pocket PC Hong Hong, the JAQ3 can expected in October already. A
price wasn't given yet nor has i-mate made it official yet.
Now, after we have seen the i-mate JAQ and the i-mate JAQ3, I wonder what
happened to the JAQ2? But anyway, the JAQ3 is what the JAQ should be already - a
nice looking device.
UPDATE: Since I was kindly asked to remove the Pocket PC Hong Hong photos I've replaced them with some previously made photos.
Cheers ~ Arne
