 Following
the earlier posting, that Sling Media is working on a Windows Mobile 6
compatible version of its Slingplayer Mobile, and
my rant that the current
Slingplayer Mobile should work with Windows Mobile 6 anyway, I have to take it
back but have to confirm instead, that the current available SlingPlayer Mobile
versions are incompatible to Windows Mobile 6.
While everything seems to start normal with the "Locating", "Connecting" and
"Starting" notifications, the player fails to start the stream with a "Unable to
connect to Slingbox" error message:
This error happens on both platforms - Windows Mobile Professional PDAs
(Pocket PC Phone Editions) as well as on Windows Mobile Standard smartphones
(Smartphones) - and I got the confirmation from several other users as well - so
it's not a problem of my configuration.
That's too bad, especially because I don't see a reason for this problem at
all. Compared to Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6 isn't that different and I
seriously hope, Sling Media is in time with a new Windows Mobile 6 compatible
Slingplayer Mobile. Windows Mobile 6 devices are on the horizon already.
