One
of the great benefits of Windows Mobile 6 Standard (you know, formerly known as
Windows Mobile Smartphone) over previous Windows Mobile Smartphone versions is
the fact, that Windows Mobile 6 natively includes Office Mobile (including Word
Mobile, Excel Mobile and PowerPoint Mobile) as seen on Pocket PCs before only.
This means that you can open and edit Office files (creating new ones is
possible with a workaround only but this is a different story) as well as saving
the changes. However, Office Mobile is designed for Windows Mobile 6 Standard
only and not available as a separate download.

Now some folks extracted Office Mobile from a release version of Windows
Mobile 6 Standard and made it available as a cab download which is simply
installed on a Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone and here we go - your Smartphone has
Office Mobile as well now.
I'm not saying that this way of providing Office Mobile is legal since it
isn't due to the fact that it is a crack and it's breaking the copyright
Microsoft has on Office Mobile but I can understand that happy users of a
Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone cannot accept the fact, that they don't get Office
Mobile for their beloved devices, especially if the manufacture of the device
hasn't announced Windows Mobile 6 upgrade plans so far.
