Ok
guys - I know you love to hear the latest rumors as much as I do too and today
we've received some more reliable information about LG's new Windows Mobile
smartphone which we haven't heard anything anymore since the
3GSM World Congress
back in February. But today I got the word that we can expect a
semi-exclusive cross-European launch in September already and I got confirmed
that it is Windows Mobile 6 Professional (for sure) as well as UMTS. Maybe also
HSDPA which isn't confirmed yet (by the way - the supported GSM and UMTS bands
are also unknown yet).
As far as I've heard, LG's new Windows Mobile smartphone also includes WiFi
by default but some carriers opted-out for WiFi (while left the WiFi-chip inside
- so it shouldn't be too hard to reawake WiFi again). So most likely we will see
WiFi and WiFi-less versions, depending on the carrier. Too bad - how can a
carrier opt-out WiFi today?

Size and design is also confirmed according to our sources. It has a LG Prada-like
design and a similar footprint like the Samsung SGH-i600/BlackJack but it's
thicker. Like the LG Prada, the Windows Mobile version has a shiny metal frame
around the body and - it's pretty touch screen centric.
That's all I've heard for now but I hope to get further information soon.
Anyway, if the September launch turns out to be true, it shouldn't take to long
anymore that we have all the fact.
UPDATE: Okay guys - here we go with some more rumors we've
received. The Windows Mobile LG doesn't have a joystick or D-Pad
like the prototype
we've seen at the 3GSM World Congress but it's flat with just the two call
buttons - similar to the LG Prada phone!
Looks like LG is definitely working on a serious iPhone competitor but now it
comes to the question how good and competitive the user interface can be.
Cheers ~ Arne
