STREAMING: Music for Everyone - Spotify is now free on Smartphones and Tablets

As expected, today Spotify announced its free mobile device service which gives users access to millions of songs. It allows to listen to all personal playlists, discover new music or simply sit back and dig into favorite artist's entire back catalogue. Furthermore, Spotify announced it's launching in 20 new markets today, it's never been easier for more people across the world to discover and play more great music. Available to all today - Spotify's new free mobile experience allows users to shuffle play their music which allows to listen to all the playlists a registered user created, as well as playlists from the people the user follows. Favorite artists allows to listen to a certain artist by just hitting shuffle play.

RUMOR: Could Android be Nokia's next Asha entry-level Feature Phone OS?

Back in November, @evleaks posted a photo of a so called "Nokia Normandy" which shows a Lumia-styled touchscreen smartphone. However, most noticeable is the center key which is just an arrow, looking like the back button of an Asha S40 Nokia entry-level smartphone or feature phone - however you want to call it. Now, The Verge has received further information saying that the device is indeed legit and that the "Normandy" is running a special and "forked" version of Android; which is said to be not aligned with Google's own version but pretty much what Amazon is doing with its Kindle Fire line of Android tablets.

ENHANCED: Twitter brings Photos to Direct Messages (DM) - Makes it more a Chat now

Twitter today announced today that it's updating Twitter Mobile for Android and iOS which brings a brand new feature. The latest update allows users to send and receive photos via direct messages and swipe back and forth between timelines; making it much more a chat now. This brings back the focus of direct messages, Twitter lost somewhere on its way when it has even hidden the direct message menu item. Anyway, for the first time, users can now share and view photos via direct message (DM) on their mobile phones. On its blog, Twitter also announced that it's going to introduce a new tab in the navigation bar that makes it even easier to access DMs – they’re now just one tap away from wherever you are on Twitter.

UNVEILED: LG announces the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition Tablet

Today, LG announced that the LG G Pad 8.3 will be the first device ever to be designated a Google Play Edition tablet. Google's first Android Open Source Project (AOSP) tablet will feature the latest Android operating system, Android 4.4, KitKat. It's powered by a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core CPU and features WiFi a/b/g/n at 2.4 and 5 GHz, NFC (Android Beam) and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity. It comes, as the name indicates, with a 8.3" Full HD IPS WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixel) touchscreen, 16 GB eMMC flash memory and 2 GB LPDDR2 RAM. On the back, it has a 5.0 megapixel, and on the front a 1.3 megapixel camera. The battery has a capacity of 4,600 mAh and all this measures 216.8 x 126.5 x 8.3 mm and weights 338g.

ENHANCED: Google announces new Google Chromecast Apps for the Holidays

Following yesterday's news that Google might work on a new "Nexus TV" set-top box and my remark, that Google's Chromecast is less successful but at the moment only something for the tech savvies, Google today announced that new apps available for Chromecast. Beginning today, Chromecast owners can enjoy action sports, news, music videos and more with the addition of VEVO, Red Bull.TV, Songza, PostTV, Viki, Revision 3 and BeyondPod. But Google hasn't added online services only but users can also cast personal media straight to the TV using Plex, Avia or RealPlayer Cloud apps. To start casting from these apps, the latest versions for Android or iOS needs to be installed; these apps will be rolling out over the next few days.
