OFFICIAL: Sony unveiles the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - High-end Specs in a smaller Size

At its yesterday evening press conference in Las Vegas, Sony Mobile unveiled the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, offering the very best of Sony technologies from its flagship Xperia Z1, in a stylish new compact size. The Xperia Z1 Compact is said to set a new standard in premium smartphones and indeed, for it's size it's everything but a mid-range phone. The Xperia Z1 Compact is running Android 4.3 and offers ultra-fast performance and breathtaking graphics, thanks to the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2.2 GHz quad-core CPU and 4G LTE for amazing speed. The Xperia Z1 Compact also includes a 2300 mAh battery which provides outstanding, class-leading battery performance, despite its compact size.

OUTLOOK: Pebble details upcoming Appstore Launch and announces Partnerships with Mercedes Benz and ESPN

Next to the two new Pebble Steel smartwatches, Pebble also announced that it's getting ready to launch the Pebble appstore, the company announced back in December. The appstore, which will be part of the existing Pebble smartphone app on iOS or Android, allows Pebble users to find and download Pebble apps directly from the phone. By the end of January, the Pebble appstore will offer the centralized location for users to discover, manage and install apps and watchfaces. That means that users will more easily be able to find apps that help to track your workout, manage the music or control the thermostat. In addition, Pebble said it'll be curating the Pebble appstore to bring the latest and greatest apps and watchfaces right to the wrist.

And today, Pebble opened the second chapter and is announcing during today's press event the introduction to the "Pebble Steel", the company's new and premium smartwatch. Following the iconic, colorful and sporty 1st smartwatch design, the Pebble Steel takes everything Pebblers know and love to a more stylish and enhanced level. Like the original Pebble, the Pebble Steel comes with an ePaper display, 5 to 7 days battery life and waterproof design; but sports a smaller and thinner package. Pebble says that it's latest smartwatch is made of forged and CNC-machined stainless steel.

ALLIANCE: Google forms Android Open Automotive Alliance - Partners with Audi, GM, Honda, Hyundai and Nvidia

We have seen quite a few automotive tech-alliances in the past and from today, the world is richer with one more which is said to extend the success of the Android ecosystem to a coalition of auto and technology companies by bringing the Android platform to a device that's always been mobile: the car. Audi, GM, Google, Honda, Hyundai and Nvidia have joined together to form the "Open Automotive Alliance" (OAA), a global alliance of technology and auto industry leaders committed to bringing the Android platform to cars starting in 2014. The OAA is dedicated to a common platform that will drive innovation, and make technology in the car safer and more intuitive for everyone.
