As more and more organizations are mobilizing their workforces with sophisticated mobile devices, Vodafone has identified the need for a simple but effective way to manage and protect these mobile workers and their devices. Vodafone Enhanced Services for Windows Mobile E-Mail provides IT managers with a managed service that ensures mobile devices do not become the weak link in enterprise management & security.
Today's Window's Mobile devices are extremely sophisticated and capable of supporting a range of mobile applications, but managing this fleet of devices across a dispersed, or even global, workforce can be a challenge.

RUMOR: Dopod to release the HTC Cavalier as Dopod C730 in May [UPDATE]
Posted by Arne Hess - at 10:43 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

It became quite silent around the HTC Cavalier, the UMTS follower of the HTC Excalibur (better known as T-Mobile Dash or O2 Xda cosmo), but according to CNET Asia, it's expected to be finally launched by Dopod in May as Dopod C730.
According to CNET Asia, the HTC Cavalier will be released with Windows Mobile 6 Standard and is expected to be powered by a 400 MHz CPU with 64 MB of RAM and 128 of MB ROM which can be extended through microSD memory cards. The quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE also features UMTS, HSDPA as well as Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi b/g and a 2 megapixel camera for photos and videos. However, like the HTC MTeoR it misses a front facing camera for UMTS video calls:

Posted by Arne Hess - at 17:03 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

French website "GPSandCo" got its hands on a new and so far completely unknown Windows Mobile Smartphone from AsusTek. And according the (unconfirmed) specifications, this device could become a serious competitor to Samsung's SGH-i600/BlackJack and HTC's Cavalier (if it is released in time) since it also features a thumb-keyboard as well as singleband UMTS at 2100 MHz (but seems to exclude HSDPA), tribande GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 MHz, W-LAN b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
Powered by a XScale CPU at 416 MHz, the so far unnamed devices features a 2 megapixel camera on the back as well as a front cam, 256 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM which can be extended with microSD memory cards. Last but not least, the photos shows Windows Mobile 6 aka Crossbow:

PHOTOVIEW: i-mate JAQ3 Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition [UPDATE]
Posted by Arne Hess - at 19:21 CET under 08 - Reviews

Thanks to i-mate, today I received a brand new i-mate JAQ3. Made by TechFaith Wireless, the i-mate JAQ3 is i-mate's second Windows Mobile Pocket PC not manufactured by HTC.
Similar to the Palm Treo 750, the i-mate JAQ3 is also a Windows Mobile Pocket PC with a thumb keyboard bellow the screen. However, unlike the Treo 750, the JAQ3 isn't UMTS enabled but is featuring quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE only but also supports WiFi 802.11 b/g as well as Bluetooth 1.2 (with A2DP and AVRC support).
The i-mate JAQ3, which features Windows Mobile 5.0 AKU 3.2, was designed with user preferences in mind - since its full QWERTY keyboard, five navigation buttons and scroll wheel allow easy navigation and use of services including E-Mail. Unusual is the the 2.4" color touch screen which is neither portrait nor square but landscape - as we know it from the latest Windows Mobile Smartphones like the HTC Excalibur/Cavalier and Samsung i320/i600. Last but not least, the devices is also featuring a 2.0 megapixel camera.

LINK: The Boy Genius unbox' the HTC Cavalier
Posted by Arne Hess - at 22:05 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

No question, many of us/you enjoy the HTC Excalibur (better known as O2 Xda cosmo/T-Mobile Dash) even if I prefer the the Samsung SGH-i320 at the moment. Nevertheless, the Excalibur follower will be released sooner or later and it's the HTC Cavalier.
The HTC Cavalier will get a faster Samsung processor with its 400 Mhz, flash memory is increased to 128 MB as well as the camera which will be 2 megapixel and for sure the Cavalier will be UMTS enabled, featuring triband UMTS/HSDPA at 850/1900/2100 MHz as well as quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.
The Boy Genius got his hands on a pre-release sample now and put a some photos online:

LEAKED: HTC's 2007 Windows Mobile Roadmap hits the Web
Posted by Arne Hess - at 21:47 CET under 01 - General News

HPC.ru has received information about HTC's 2007 roadmap. For accuracy of these data, HPC.ru mentions that we shall not warrant, as it can still change but I also received the information, that these information are indeed accurate (as of today). Apparently the next year looks pretty promising for Windows Mobile fans since all the devices bellow are running on Microsoft's Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone platform.!

Nominally novelties could be divided into two main categories. The first category includes those, which are already known from the Web, including the HTC X7500 (HTC Athena), HTC P3350 (HTC Love), the HTC S650 (HTC Cavalier) and the HTC S710 (HTC Vox - picture bellow):

LEAKED: First HTC Cavalier photo hits the Web
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:47 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

I wrote about HTC's Excalibur UMTS- follower, the HTC Cavalier, last week the first time and now, Italian website SoloPalmari published the first photo of the HTC Cavalier, together with some specs. While for me, the Cavalier looks a little bit like a different Excalibur ID, I have no doubt that SoloPalmari is right since they haven't failed too often in the past. Nevertheless, like the HTC MTeoR, also this version of the HTC Cavalier hasn't have a front facing camera for UMTS video telephony. All the rest looks - as I said - like a slightly modified Excalibur:

RUMOR: HTC to release a HTC Excalibur Smartphone UMTS follower early next year?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 19:29 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Smartphone Thoughts has posted information today, that HTC is expected to launch a HTC Excalibur Smartphone follower and Samsung SGH-i600 Smartphone competitor early next year, namely January.
This new Windows Mobile-based Smartphone is codenamed "Cavalier" and is expected to have even better specifications than the Samsung BlackJack. Smartphone Thoughts is mentioning a 400 MHz Samsung CPU as well as quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and triband UMTS/HSDPA plus WiFi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 for sure.
Further features of the HTC Cavalier should be 128 MB ROM, 64MB RAM, 2.4" QVGA screen, 2 mega-pixel camera and a 1050mAh battery all packed into a package that's just a little larger than the Excalibur.
