Back to Business - Back with a new Notebook
Posted by Arne Hess - at 19:27 CET under Digital - Gadgets

As mentioned in my previous posting, I was without my Notebook during the past days. "Woohoo..." Looks like I'm not the only one with Notebook trouble after last week my beloved 3 years old Sony Vaio f*cked up, nearly exactly 3 years after I bought it. Not too bad for a Subnotebook which was in use, more or less, every day.
So I had to buy a new one even if my initial plan was to wait for the commercial Windows Vista release, to get my hands on the latest and greatest Windows Vista Premium machines. Well, the destiny had something different in mind and therefore I was (online) shopping before Vista and the Vista enhanced systems became available. As always, I was looking for something small (Subnotebook-class) but "slightly" more powerful than my last Vaio which became outdated pretty soon after I bought it. :-( So this time (after 2 Sony Vaios) I went with a Fujitsu (Siemens) LifeBook T4210 convertible Tablet PC (my first Tablet PC), featuring an Intel Core Duo processor at 1.8 GHz, 1.5 GB SDRAM, an 12.1" XGA (1024×768 only -unfortunately) active digitizer, indoor/outdoor display with wide viewing angles LCD, modular DVD optical drive, integrated 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi, integrated Gigabit Ethernet LAN, integrated Bluetooth 2.0, integrated 56 Kbps modem (is anyone still using integrated modems), integrated stereo speakers, integrated fingerprint sensor, dual microphone array with IntelliSonic noise cancellation software, embedded TPM, dedicated Smart Card and SD card slot, Fujitsu Security Application Panel and all this weighs around 2 Kg (only).

Pretty cool this Tablet PC stuff (which I'm new to), nevertheless yesterday I went through the Vista upgrade hell (around 80 % of the drivers don't work) with the result that I had to downgrade to XP again (just to wait for the right Vista drivers which are hopefully released early next year).

Sorry for the Absence
Posted by Arne Hess - at 19:40 CET under Off Topic

Sorry for the absence here at the::unwired but beside some privat stuff/difficulties, which kept me away from the site, also my Notebook died last week.
As a matter of fact I was posting the last articles from my Windows Mobile devices (as I did with this posting which I'm posting from my HTC Smartphone as well) or from the Notebook from my girlfriend.

The good news is that my new Notebook came today but no time to configure it today since I'm on the way to the Munich Arena to watch FC Bayern at the Champions League.

Cheers ~ Arne
