ZDNET Japan has some cool pictures of the Siemens Fujitsu LOOX available. The
most impressive one for me is the wireless kind of pack they has there. As you
can see on the picture, it has a SIM card slot which means it is the GSM/GPRS
module already announced. It's a little bit huge, I hoped to see a smaller one
but doesn't matter, good to see, they are really working on it... :-) Looking
forward the bright wireless Pocket PC future... :-)

huge you say?
a) it's much, much smaller than the ipaq equivalent, probably twice as small.
b) it insludes its own battery

And remember that the Pocket LOOX is as small as the ipaq while offering a CF type II slot which unfortunately lacks on the ipaq while sporting the same MMC/SD slot!!!

as I get it, the Japanese version is sure to get the Bluetooth connection while the European might not have it, supposedly because they will offer the GPRS sleeve.

So make sure to let them understand that BT is FAR MORE capable than just connecting a PDA to a cellphone. Right now there are BT printers, the new Sony movie camera (the one with the newest tiny tape cartridges), BT hubs, and countless devices are being developped to interact with a PDA.

And in a very short while, you'll get fingerrings and watches as access authorisation devices and more, you'll probably be able to pilot your TV, HiFi systems, microwave oven, coffee machine, "talk" to your fridge, maybe even pilot/program/talk to your pet robodog. And why not open your house and car door as well; you better not run out of battery juice tho, but I would imagine your BT controlled lock also has a manual mechanism.

Imagine it's windy and snowy, you're coming home or entering your car without having to remove your gloves and reach under your long coat to fumble into your pocket to get your keys, not this pocket, neither that one "where the heck did I put my keys", sounds familiar?!; with a BT enabled lock you just move towards the door and there it unlocks. "Wilkomen zu Hause, Arne" says the sexy woman's computerized voice (or your wife's/childrens' digitized voice).

So a PDA with integrated BT will sell while the others won't. Why buy a BT CF card when one can get a BT integrated PDA?!! and keep the CF slot for a digicam, Microdrive, etc. Easier to integrate BT than these, isn't it?!

jvasquez: I've been on three Pocket PC message boards reading about the LOOX. I haven't been able to get anything close to an answer on the price. My bet is that it'll be expensive though...
