With the latest Gartner figures that said that Windows Mobile loses 2.7 % share of an increasing smartphone market it makes wonder what's your plans for your next smartphone are? This is a pretty dedicated Windows Mobile poll since it only offers upgrade options from Windows Mobile to Windows Mobile, iPhone, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry, webOS or something not further specified. Please let us know what your next smartphone will be or was, if you purchased one in the past 6 month and your previous smartphone was a Windows Phone.

First, I am using Windows Mobile 6.1 (Professional) in a Palm Treo Pro. This is my first use of WinMo, which I do NOT want to use again. Too many problems and self-changing (by the phone and/or by the software) of the registry for me to consider WinMo again. I had used Palm OS in a Palm Treo 650 and then a Treo 680. I was with Suncom, which was bought out by T-mobile. Thus, a GSM phone is what I want. Not an iPhone due to AT&T's monthly costs. (I pay $63 a month for unlimited phone calls, 400 texts and unlimited data as long as I am not roaming.) With the Palm Pre (WebOS) now requiring a change to Sprint (non-GSM network and higher cost per month at $99), that is out. So, what does that leave me with if the future continues as the present is set? Probably Android! Go figure!

Windows Mobile 6.1 currently does what I need it to do with no issues and the next version 6.5 looks to continue the trend therefore I personally have no need to switch platforms, for cosmetic or other reasons.

I hold today a Samsung Omnia and it does everything I need.
I still believe that Windows Mobile is the most productive OS in the smartphone field, even not being the most attractive. There are still many things I can only do with it.
Additionally, I have many good business applications that I use and I am yet to find similar apps in other platforms.
I am bound to buy an Android phone as well in order to learn the platform better, but my main phone will continue being a WM phone, this time WM6.5.

I bought an iPhone 3gs and I think today the iPhone OS is the better mobile platform for smartphones.

I'm still using WM5 on an iPAQ hw6965 right now, and I haven't bought a new WM phone or upgraded to WM6 or WM6.1, because WM6.1 have only minor changes compared to WM5, though the User Interface of the Touch Diamond and the Omnia were a big improvement for an easy touch operation on these WM6.1 devices. Right now, I have 2 choices for a WM6.5 device, the HTC Leo and the Samsung Omnia 2.

Just love my Palm Treo Pro, however in AU where we have to buy our phones or get stitched up with an outrageous plan I think I shall be looking at something thats upgradeable as opposed to buying a new $900 phone every other year, Winmo's method of leaving things to device makers and or carriers is clearly next to useless.
