I just come back from a meeting with Dangaard and I'm happy to tell you, that the Motorola MPx Pocket PC Phone Edition isn't dead at all - not in Asia where it was previously released nor in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) where it is to be released soon through Dangaard's exclusive distribution agreement with Motorola.
According to a spokesman, Dangaard confirmed me the MPx will become available in April through different sales channels including network operators and retail.
Unfortunately, the device specifications (you remember the 32 MB RAM only) are not changed so MPx users have to live with this limitation. Nevertheless, Dangaard will not just release the hardware, the MPx comes preconfigured with Dangaard's "tabella mobile" messaging solution, previously announced by Dangaard and DAT.
So the MPx, equipped with tabella mobile is targeting the professional consumers and corporate end-users to give BlackBerry kind functionalities to MPx customers.
There was no end-user price given nor Dangaard could announce the retail and carrier partners yet. Nevertheless, the MPx will become reality in EMEA - they promised.
Cheers ~ Arne

I am trying to convince myself about the importance of MPX, but I can't get pass the memory issue (I think I'll accept the slow CPU). Now I know I can dump my 256MB SD memory in it, and install evey single appliction on the SD, however, wen you wanna run applications it requies free memory to execute. Now having a 32MB RAM, and Win2003 mobile SE, what are the odds that this device will run smoothly under - let's say- normal applications to function propoerly or will I face memory crash or at least a very slow processing due to memory swap to SD. If that is true, is there any fix, anything I can do to overcome this error?
your swift reply is highly appreciated, thank you.

well there is no actual solution only a number of workarounds that I dont even like. You have to minimize as much as possible startup programs (to get this minimum list, search this website for this topic and you will find some matches). Second avoid running too many applications, so always refer back to the memory in control panel to free running programs. third try selling the device
BTW, I heard that this device is actually and trully being phased out even if it was not lunched world wide yet. Why? motorola is having troubles in the keyboard and in CPU and memory obviously.
I am switching now to i-mate 4 aka MDA IV, planned for next summer having WLAN, Bluetooth, GPRS, UMTS, 2 cameras, great qwerty keyboard. this will beat easily mpx and many others, hope it wil be suitable for poor people with around 1000$ budget
