One of the biggest surprises this week, at least for me, was Microsoft's announcement that Huawei will join Microsoft for Windows Phone 8 (but not ZTE which so far manufactured Windows Phone 7 devices) and Huawei just issued a press release where it details its upcoming Windows Phone 8 plans a little bit more. It's mentioned, that Huawei's first Windows Phone 8 devices "will expands the portfolio of the popular Ascend family", a brand which was so far only used for Android smartphones. Shao Yang, Chief Marketing Officer at Huawei Devices also said that "the year 2012 is becoming a very successful year for Huawei and we (Huawei) will finish it brilliantly - with the launch of our first Windows Phones".

While it's too early for further device details, Huawei also unveiled that its first Windows Phone 8 is planned to be initially launched in Europe, China and the United States, followed by other markets after. Furthermore, Huawei plans numerous activities, in collaboration with the key mobile operators, and aims a global marketing.
