Socket Communication, together with SanDisk, was the first company which introduced a SD W-LAN card for Pocket PCs, back in 2003 which got a lot of attention because it made devices like the Xda II (HTC Himalaya) truly connected.
However, as time went bye, other companies like Spectec minimized the SDIO card earlier this year which made the Spectec card a great companion for the i-mate JAM (HTC Magician).
Now Socket Communication followed this trend and introduced the second W-LAN SD card which is way shorter than the original one:

Now you can access enterprise and public Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b) Wireless LAN systems from your Windows Mobile 2003/2003SE using the smallest and lightest form factor available with Socket’s Low Power Go Wi-Fi! E300. All you need is a Pocket PC 2003 or Pocket PC 2003 (running Windows Mobile 2003) with an SDIO interface running SDIO Now!, and you can use the Go Wi-Fi! E300 to access the Internet, email, and make VoIP call. By using Wi-Fi you can also make secure corporate access.

Wi-Fi Companion Software, a $24.99 value, included free:

  • Find, Connect and Manage favorite Wi-Fi networks with Socket Wi-Fi Companion software, that easily manages Wi-Fi networks and performing network ping and trace route functions. Click here for more information.
  • Supports open, 40-bit, 128-bit WEP and WPA-PSK encryption. 802.1 x authentications with EAP-TLS or PEAP are supported on Windows Mobile 2003.
  • Supports WPA and WPA-PSK is on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition as well as on the original WM 2003 with ROM upgrade (some devices).
  • Supports infrastructure WLAN and Ad Hoc peer-to-peer connectivity.
  • Automatic Power Saving Mode balances battery life and throughput speed.
  • LED on the card shows WLAN connection status.

Socket's Go Wi-Fi! E300 SDI W-LAN card is available for around US$ 89.00 from Socket's online shop as well as from retailers around the world.
