You remember the HTC EVO 3D, HTC announced back in March? When the EVO 3D was originally announced, it was introduced by Sprint. However, as it looks like, the HTC EVO 3D will also come to the rest of the world as the HTC EVO 3D (GSM/UMTS). The Global Certification Forum has just approved a GSM/UMTS version of HTC's first smartphone which provides the ability to capture and view in 3D, offering consumers the ultimate glasses-free 3D experience. It's expected that the EVO 3D is also powered by Android 2.3/Gingerbread, featuring a qHD 3D 4.3" display but it's confirmed that it supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA at 900, 1700 and 2100 MHz! Also onboard are WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth A2DP and aGPS.

The U.S. EVO 3D is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core CPU and features dual 5 megapixel cameras, which can be used to capture both high-quality conventional and stunning 3D images and 3D HD (720p) videos.

The U.S version also integrates wired as well as wireless DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and features a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, Google's Android Market, Google mobile services such as Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Calendar and YouTube.

Like the U.S. version, the European version of the EVO 3D is expected to come with 4 GB internal memory and 1 GB RAM which can be expanded with microSD cards up to 32 GB.

HTC has not yet announced the launch of an upcoming GSM/UMTS version of the EVO 3D but if the Global Certification Forum has approved it already, it's obvious that it is coming soon. Also interesting s the fact that the GSM/UMTS version supports T-Mobile U.S. AWS band at 1700 MHz.

Cheers ~ Arne
